With the help of MNP (Mobile Number Portability), you can quickly execute the process of moving your mobile number from your existing Airtel network to the Jio network. You simply have to follow some steps to ensure a hassle-free transition from Airtel to Jio port. But before doing this, you have to know about the porting of mobile connection.
What is Mobile number porting?
The mobile number porting is a process by which you will move to the new network while retaining your existing number. Once the porting is successfully accomplished, your existing number will come under the new network.
Steps to port Airtel to Jio:
If you are an Airtel consumer looking forward to moving to Jio, it is possible for you to continue using your current mobile number even after you change your cellular mobile network provider. This MNP process can be initiated by sending an SMS request for Airtel to Jio port. Here is the complete process, which can help you to send a request to port Airtel to Jio mobile connection:
- To begin the process of porting your SIM from Airtel to Jio network, first send an SMS to TRAI’s central number for mobile number portability – 1900 from the Airtel number which you will like to port to Jio network by typing in the message <PORT><space><your 10-digit mobile number>.
- In a few minutes, you will get a message as a response from the number 1901. You will receive an SMS from the existing network provider giving you the UPC code (Universal Product Code) along with the expiry details.
- Next, visit the app store on your Android Smartphone and download the MyJio App. Open the app and generate a Jio coupon code.
- Now, you can visit a nearby Jio store or Reliance Digital store. Contact the Jio customer service executive there, show him your UPC, Jio coupon code and submit the required documents as well as photographs and provide the required information (such as an alternate contact number) to register your MNP (Mobile Number Portability) request with Jio.
- You need to produce an address proof like Aadhaar Card. If your Aadhaar card does not have the local address, you need to carry any other valid address proof. You will also need to produce any approved identity proof. Also carry two passport size photographs.
- Upon your request, the personnel at the Reliance or Jio store will activate your Jio connection through the eKYC process.
- If you are an Airtel postpaid subscriber, you must settle all the outstanding dues with Airtel before initiating the porting process.
- Now your Airtel mobile number porting to Jio network will work within 3 working days. During this interim period, you can continue to use the services of Airtel without any interruptions. When the porting is completed successfully, you will get a message informing you that you will be covered by the new network.
