Cyber Threat Protection Service launched by Airtel Xstream Fiber at Rs 99 per month

Airtel Xstream Fiber has launched a new cyber-security service -’Secure Internet’- for its customers to provide real-time protection against cyber threats such as malware and viruses, high-risk websites, and apps, at a monthly subscription of Rs 99.

It offers online protection against threats by leveraging Airtel’s network security apparatus for all devices connected to the Airtel Xstream Fiber, through the ‘Wi-Fi’, according to an official statement.

‘Secure Internet’ offers multiple security modes for varying customer needs, from remote working to online classes. With its Child Safe and Study Modes, customers can block websites and applications with unwanted, adult/graphic content not suitable for children, it added, highlighting this will protect the “particularly vulnerable section of the society”.

The subscription comes with a 30-day complimentary trial of the service post which it is billed. It can be activated or deactivated via the Airtel Thanks app at any time.

Airtel Xstream’s offering comes in the backdrop of a 300% spike in cyber-attacks during 2020, according to the data compiled by the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (Cert-In), as customers in India have started spending more time online for work from home, e-commerce, and entertainment.

Meanwhile, a separate Norton Cyber Safety Insights report found that around 59% of Indian adults have been a victim of cybercrime in the past 12 months.

“Work and children’s studies have all gone online with the pandemic. Along with the speed and reliability of broadband, security is a now a key requirement for customers. Secure Internet is an easy to activate and highly effective solution for making internet, safer for our customers,” said Shashwat Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Bharti Airtel.

ETTelecom had earlier reported that Airtel has received Cert-In’s empanelment to offer its cybersecurity solutions to Union and State governments, as well as Public Sector entities, in addition to corporate customers, under Airtel Secure.

The Sunil Mittal-led telco launched its security intelligence center with an investment of Rs 100 crore and entered into partnerships with Cisco, Vmware, Radware and Force point to expand advanced cybersecurity solutions for business customers.

Airtel also signed a multi-year, Strategic Collaboration Agreement (SCA) with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to offer a comprehensive set of innovative cloud solutions to large enterprise and small and medium enterprise (SME) customers in India. (Source: Businesstoday.in)
